Daigle Smashes 20 Kills as Volleyball Splits a Pair of Matches at Plymouth State

Plymouth, New York --- Melissa Daigle (Norfolk, MA) totaled 20 kills as WPI split a pair of non-conference volleyball matches at Plymouth State on Saturday.  The Engineers fell to the host Panthers 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-13) before rebounding to sweep Salem State (25-12, 25-20, 25-23).
Daigle hit an impressive .321 in the nightcap victory over the Vikings, amassing 11 kills and committing just two errors in 28 attempts.  The sophomore also posted a game-high 17 digs en route to registering her second double-double of the season and 12th of her career.  Daigle was aided offensively by Ann Kaczowka (Seekonk, MA) and Kat Hurlock (Burlington, CT), who combined for nine kills.

The Crimson and Gray used three setters in the sweep with Azita Bakhtyari (Andover, MA) doling out 14 helpers and Shay Feeley (Franklin, MA) and Caroline Meyer (Easton, MA) dishing out seven and five respectively.  Meyer and Victoria Nassar (Salem, NH) each tallied six digs and Feeley served three aces.

In the opener, Daigle hit .280 with a team-best nine kills and a pair of errors it 25 tries.  Casey Hunt (Granby, CT) was also strong with six kills and six digs.  Feeley led the assist parade with 12 and Brooke Klepper (Miami Beach, FL) notched four attacks and combined with Sam Bircsak (Acton, MA) to amass a trio of solo blocks.

WPI is back in action on Tuesday, traveling to regionally-ranked Babson for a 7pm NEWMAC match.
