Bourgeois Scores Five Goals to Lead Salem State Past Dallas

SALEM, MASS. --  Charlie Bourgeois (Billerica, Mass.) scored a season-high five goals and added an assist as Salem State pulled away in the third quarter to earn a 9-4 victory over the University of Dallas at Alumni Field on Monday afternoon.

Hunter Spencer (Beverly, Mass.) – 2 goals, Zach Persson (Danvers, Mass.) and Craig Denehy (Salem, Mass.) notched goals for Salem State.

J.P. Hasson (Fairfax, Va.), Peter Early (San Antonio, Texas), Chasen Reynolds (Fallbrook, Calif.), Tucker Jameson (Mechanisville, Md.) each scored a goal for Dallas.

The Vikings received back-to-back scores from Persson and Denehy to open the game. Dallas responded with a score by Early, cutting the deficit to 2-1. Bourgeois answered right back for Salem State (3-6) with his first of the game before Reynolds drew the Crusaders back to within a goal at 3-2 at the end of the first. Dallas (6-6) scored the only goal of the second as Jameson tied the game with 8:40 left, allowing the teams to head into halftime tied 3-3.

The Vikings surged ahead with four third period goals, all scored by Bourgeois as Salem State built a 7-3 lead heading into the fourth. Spencer added two more scores for the Vikings in the fourth before Hasson capped the scoring for the Crusaders with 5:32 remaining that made the final 9-4. 

Chris Schaub (Brewster, N.Y.) made 14 saves to earn the win while Zach Isham (Chicopee, Mass.) finished the game making a pair of saves while allowing a goal.

Christian Lopez (Las Vegas, Nev.) stopped 13 shots for Dallas.

Dan McLaughlin and Hasson each had a team-leading five ground balls. McLaughlin won 8-of-9 draws for the Vikings.
