Salem State swept doubles play to take an early 3-0 lead. John Didonato (Newbury, Mass.)/Kevin
Lam (Salem, Mass.) won first doubles with an 8-3 victory over Brett Taggart (North Kingstown, R.I.)/Lee Tiberi (Smithfield, R.I.). Chen Chen (Lawrence, Mass.)/David Dluznieski (Auburn, Mass.) scored an 8-4 victory over Matthew Gambardella (West Warwick, R.I.)/Alan Esposito (Clinton, Conn.) in second doubles, and Luke Hodgkins (Winthrop, Mass.)/Jacob Averka (Sutton, Mass.) completed the run with an 8-5 win in third doubles.
Didonato and Chen led the way with wins at first and second singles respectively. Didonato beat Taggart, 6-1, 1-6, 6-2 while Chen won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2 in second singles. Esposito took third singles for Rhode Island College with a 6-1, 6-4 decision over Lam. Dluznieski earned the other singles win for the Vikings, beating Scott, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3. Duquette and Gambardella rounded out singles play with wins at fifth and sixth singles respectively for the Anchormen.
Salem State will go to UMass Boston on Tuesday for a 3:00 PM match while Rhode Island College hosts UMass Dartmouth at 3:00 PM.
