Smith Runs Season-Best 800 on 1st Day of Silfen Invitational

NEW LONDON, CT - Women's Track senior Sydney Smith ran Tufts' best 800 meters time of the season thus far on Friday at Connecticut College's Silfen Invitational.

Smith timed 2:15.04 to place fourth out of 23 individuals entered in the 800 at the non-scoring meet. The mark ranks approximately 20th on the NCAA qualifying list as of Friday night.

Sophomore Eliza Lawless also posted a Tufts 2016-best with her 17:43.13 time in the 5,000 meters at the meet. She placed 10th at the meet with a time that is among the national top 30 as of Friday night. Sophomore Brittany Bowman ran 17:49.03 in the Silfen 5K for 13th place and top 40 national time.
