Beacons Earn 7-2 Victory Over Vikings

Boston, Mass. – Salem State lost a 7-2 decision to UMass Boston in Little East action on Tuesday afternoon. The Vikings slip to 5-4 and 2-2 in the Little East. The Beacons improve to 5-9 and 3-1 in conference.

Salem State secured two doubles wins as John Didonato (Newbury, Mass.)/Kevin Lam (Salem, Mass.) won first doubles 8-6 over Josh Bhasin (Tulsa, Okla.)/Austin DeLasse (Mexico City, Mexico). Luke Hodgkins (Winthrop, Mass.)/Jacob Averka (Sutton, Mass.) earned the other point with an 8-4 victory over Hector Mata (San Salvador, El Salvador)/Zeke Hernandez (Baytown, Texas).

The Beacons swept all six singles matches. Chen Chen (Lawrence, Mass.) lost a tough match at No. 2
singles, 1-6, 6-4, 6-4 to Bhasin. David Dluznieski (Auburn, Mass.) played well at fourth singles, losing 7-6 (11-9), 6-2 to Adhirath Bhatotia (New Delhi, India) and Jacob Averka (Sutton, Mass.) was defeated 6-2, 7-6 (9-7) in a competitive match at sixth singles.

The Vikings host Southern Maine next Wednesday at 3:30 PM.
