Babson College Paolino Reaches 100 Wins as No. 39 Women's Tennis Downs Bates, 7-2

BABSON PARK, Mass. — Senior Tori Paolino (East Orleans, Mass.) recorded the 100th victory of her career and was one of three players to win in both singles and doubles as No. 39 Babson College defeated visiting Bates College, 7-2, in non-conference women's tennis action on Thursday afternoon at Farwell Courts.

With its second consecutive win, Babson is now 14-6, while Bates falls to 4-12 on the year.

The Beavers took control of the match with a sweep in doubles. Sophomores Yagmur Akgul (Istanbul, Turkey) and Jenny Quenard (St.-Legier, Switzerland) won 8-6 at number one, while first-years Eleni Gianelos (West Chester, Pa.) and Chloe Brandt (Denver, Colo.) posted an 8-4 victory at number two. Paolino then became the eighth player since 1994 to reach 100 wins as she and Kylie Kam (Honolulu, Hawaii) recorded an 8-2 result at number three.

Akgul was a 6-3, 7-5 winner at number one, while sophomore Claire Foster (Orange, Conn.) breezed to a 6-1, 6-1 victory at number six. Quenard dropped the first set at number three before rallying for a 1-6, 6-1, 6-1 triumph, and Paolino pulled away in a third-set superbreaker for a 7-5, 6-7 (7-9), 1-0 (10-1) win at number four.

Babson will return to action next Friday when it hosts nationally-ranked Brandeis at 1 p.m.
