Gorman Selected As Assistant Coach For Irish Senior Men's National Team

DUBLIN—Babson College men's lacrosse head coach Brendan Gorman has been selected as one of four assistant coaches for the Irish Men's Senior National Team as it prepares for this summer's 2016 European Championships as announced by the Ireland Lacrosse Association (ILA) on Wednesday.

Gorman joins head coach Christian Arnold of Kingswood High School in Texas, and assistant coaches Matt Curran of the Robinson Secondary School in Virgina, Rich Carter, who serves as the associate head coach at the American Heritage School in Florida, and Jeremy Platt of the Kinkaid School in Texas. The staff will convene in Dublin next weekend for national team tryouts, which will be held from October 23-25 at the University of Dublin.

"It's a great honor to be named to the Irish National Team staff with much of my family having ties to the Emerald Island," said Gorman. "I'm really excited about the opportunity to work with the ILA and to help grow the game. Any time you can expose yourself to different training techniques or playing styles can only help you as a coach, so I'm looking forward to a great experience."

Ireland, which earned the silver medal at the 2012 European Championships, will travel to Goodollo, Hungary for the 2016 tournament, which runs from July 25-August 7.
