Golf in Fifth Place After Day One of the NECC Championships

Stow, Massachusetts - The Springfield College golf team competed in the first day of the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship at the Stow Acres Country Club on Saturday. After the first day of competition, the Pride sits in fifth place with 354 strokes.

Greg Allen (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) leads the Pride in a tie for fifth place overall with 80 strokes, while Travis Price (Reading, Mass.) holds tenth place with 81 strokes.

Rounding out the top five spots for the Pride are Chris Paradis (Westfield, Mass.) in 23rd place with 95 strokes, Ryan Blain (Longmeadow, Mass.) in 25th place with 98 strokes, and Brent Poulin (Astacadero, Calif.) tied for 26th place with 99 strokes.

Both Allen and Price each had 10 pars on their rounds, the second-best total among the 35 players in the field.

Babson is currently in first place with 313 strokes. Elms follows Babson in second place with 326 strokes, while Becker College and Daniel Webster College are tied in third with 351 strokes.

The winner of the NECC Championship wins an automatic-bid into the NCAA Championships at Mendon Golf Club/Midvale Country Club in Rochester, N.Y. during May 10-13, 2016.

The Pride continue their championship play today, October 4th at 10:30 am.
