Coast Guard responds to downed parachutis​t off the coast of Plum Island, Mass

BOSTON — A Coast Guard crew responded to a male parachutist after he went down off the coast of Plum Island, Mass., Saturday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Station Merrimack River, Mass., received a report from a Good Samaritan at 4:58 p.m. Saturday of a parachutist that had crashed into the water off the coast of Plum Island.

A 47-foot Motor Lifeboat from Station Merrimack River immediately launched, safely pulled the man from the water, and transported him to awaiting EMS.  He was then taken by ambulance to Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, Mass.
His condition is unknown.
The on scene air temperature was 28 degrees and water temperature was 38 degrees.
