CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts – Anthony Ridgley
earned Collegiate Water Polo Association Northern Division Defensive
Player of the Week honors after posting dominating performances in net
for the Crimson this past weekend, as the league announced today.
The freshman was the driving force behind Harvard's best defensive
outings of the season this past weekend, making 18 saves in two starts
in net, leading Harvard to wins at Fordham and Iona on Sunday. Ridgley
made 11 stops against Fordham as Harvard allowed a season-low four goals
in an 11-4 victory. Ridgley went on to make seven saves against Iona in
a 22-13 triumph as the Crimson completed its Sunday sweep.
Ridgley also dished out two assists and made four steals on the
weekend. The Los Angeles, California product leads the Crimson with 56
saves over seven games this season.
Harvard improved to 6-6 on the year and a 4-2 mark in CWPA Northern
Division play last weekend. The Crimson will have a weekend off from
play before returning to the pool on Oct. 11 for contests at Connecticut
College and Brown.
